The Niswonger_CARE_ Program commits to developing a stronger college-going and career-ready culture with the expectation of post-secondary education for all students.
Our near-peer college access advisors assist high school students across the Northeast Tennessee region in developing and meeting their individual goals for higher education.
Our advisors provide direct services to students, focusing exclusively on the college-going process.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree is required.
Recent college graduate.
Position is for a full-time college access advisor for the 2024-2025 academic school year.
Qualifications Required for This Position
This position is a service opportunity and it is understood that many applicants will have underdeveloped skill sets that will improve with training and support during the term of service.
Nevertheless, successful applicants will show evidence of many of the following characteristics:
* The ability to work independently
* Passion to help students realize their college-going potential
* The ability to exercise tact and discretion; and be culturally sensitive
* The ability to maintain an open, thoughtful, and helpful demeanor with all who seek advice and information
* Strong listening, writing, public speaking, and presentation skills
* Experience using Google Docs, Google Sheets, and various presentation formats
* Experience participating and/or leading presentations and meetings using Zoom, MS Teams or other web platforms
