Job Title: Donor Tech I, Marsh (FT) Evenings - Kingsport, TN Job Code: MSHA000BQV Location: BALLAD CORPORATE, Kingsport, TN Position Type: Full-time (scheduled 72 hrs or more per pay period) Job Definition Job Description SCOPE OF POSITION The phlebotomy Donor Tech I is responsible for performing all blood collection processes on donors to enhance the well-being of our community by providing safe, adequate and economical supply of blood products.
Always maintain a safe and hazard free work environment by following the policies and procedures of Marsh’s safety guidelines and AABB/FDA standards.
Perform all aspects of blood collection of donors, included but not limited to: maintaining high customer service, verifying all information of donor, drawing blood, and performing aftercare of the donor in a Mobile Unit or Donor Collection center.
Evaluate potential donor’s eligibility by verification of vein status in both antecubital areas.
Perform sterile scrub and venipuncture.
Verify correct identification of donor and recheck donor information forms for accuracy and completeness.
Perform post phlebotomy care, proper disposition of unit, and give post-care instructions to each donor.
Ability to understand and promote all aspects of Marsh donor programs.
Ensure all quality standards are upheld by following all policies of Marsh, Marsh’s Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), Code of Federal Regulation (CFR), state regulations, FDA, and AABB.
Demonstrate a high level of customer service, team work, professionalism and confidentiality.
Continuously develop skill sets with attending any of the following: education programs, in-service training, and seminars.
Ability to cross train and perform functions of screeners/ interviewers.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills: Displayed proficiency to plan, organize, direct and control all aspects of operations in order to meet the company's objectives.
Candidate must have demonstrated effective problem solving skills.
Proved ability to multitask, basic computer competency, and proven ability to work as part of a team.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP See Table of Organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED.
Emergency Medical Tech, Registered Nurse, LPN or phlebotomist course completion.
Phlebotomist course completion or clinical nursing/EMT experience.
Valid drivers' license and acceptable driving record consistent with company policy.
CPR is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider.
Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS.
Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS
