General Purpose of the Position:
Manage, schedule, direct, skilled mechanics, electronic technicians and contractors in maintaining the various production facility.
Responsible for facility and production equipment maintenance and ensuring maintenance work areas and department employees comply with all proper OSHA standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Follow and maintain proper training instructions pertaining to all OSHA standards; regulatory/company health and safety rules; lock out/tag out; confined spaces, hazard communications, hazardous waste, any other required training procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Supervise, schedule, direct and assist maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and maintaining printing and converting equipment.
Coach, evaluate performance, and identify training needs to ensure maintenance staff is trained for scheduled work order and following standard operating procedures.
Interpret and apply provisions of the labor contract to promote effective labor/management relations.
Drive maintenance efficiency to meet departmental KPI’s, ie: Mechanical delays, Electrical delays, % Completion of PM Work Orders, Work Orders Created etc.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs of all printing and converting equipment, facility and operational systems.
Ensure all work orders are administered in the existing PM systems, assigned to appropriate department or contract personnel, monitored for completeness in a timely manner.
Work to improve/upgrade the PM system for transition to predictive maintenance.
Purchase, control and keep available an adequate inventory of spare parts, supplies, material and equipment for maintenance crew.
Enforce plant rules of safety, guidelines, and ISO procedures for maintenance employees.
Monitor employee rewards programs and disciplinary issues.
Participate in the hiring process to ensure the selection of technically qualified staff by evaluating candidate selection for internal posting and promotions.
Investigate and report all work incidents; work related injuries, near misses; complete related forms.
Act as a safety leader for the maintenance team and the plant.
Maintain all maintenance shops, parts storage, and maintenance offices(s) to a high level of cleanliness and orderliness.
Requirements: Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to operate lift/fork trucks, hand trucks, compactors, bailers and any other equipment designed for maneuvering materials through production facility.
Reading and writing comprehension as well as basic mathematics.
Ability to manage tasks and adhere to schedules.
Ability to train and counsel subordinate employees and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, vendors, and the general public.
Must have the ability to create and maintain an effective maintenance program and standard operating procedures.
Possess leadership skills and have the ability to communicate with all levels of employees and management and organize effectively.
Strong background in troubleshooting complex processor-controlled machinery and motion control systems.
(as examples: Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs; SSD, Siemens, Indramat drives).
Understand national codes pertaining to the industry.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements: Computer literacy – including experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) as well as Windows based programs (i.
e.
Word, Excel, Access) and CAD is a plus.
Effort / Working Environment: Medium work requires exerting up to 50 lbs.
of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs.
of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs.
of force constantly to move/lift objects vertically and/or horizontally.
Work requires employees to stand/walk continuously, reach and bend to load, unload and package products.
Work requires being on call for after hours, flexible shifts and extra hours, as needed.
Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc.
Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment.
Work is performed in a manufacturing facility in office environment and in areas near operating equipment and chemical usage; in accordance with our safety program, all employees receive informative training on chemicals and equipment used within the plant.
Education and Experience Requirements: Technical degree or higher in manufacturing maintenance field with a strong emphasis in electronic is required.
5-7 years of maintenance supervisory responsibilities/duties or management in a technical field or manufacturing experience with emphasis in electronics.
Prefer experience with strong PLC background.
