General Purpose of the Position: Manage the Accounting Department and provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company’s future.
Assist general manager in financial analysis and act as a control mechanism for decision making.
Manage the Accounting Dept.
and function as a business partner with corporate and plant management to effectively manage and control the local business.
Lead the staff at plant to be accountable for plant level responsibilities including general accounting, payables, billing, cost accounting, business analysis, financial reporting, and budgeting.
Will also liaison with corporate financial staff, as required.
Requirements: Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, quarterly consolidation, annual audits and annual budgets.
Continually strive for operational and facility cost containment.
Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the complete integration of all financial issues and services including accurate and timely financial statements, billing and account statement production and disclosure development.
Oversee the activities of the Payable/Disbursement Department, ensuring that accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, and cash control.
Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable Department to ensure accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including billing, cash receipts and cash application.
Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the company’s value.
Respond to Director of Finance as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate her financial needs.
Participate in special projects, as required, and compile a variety of special reports.
Communicate with management, co-workers, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Manage all financial Accounting Department activities to accurately and timely provide information, primarily financial in nature, about activities that will assist management, its shareholder and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company’s future.
Responsible for the timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets.
Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the complete integration of all financial issues and services including accurate and timely financial statements, billing and account statement production and disclosure development.
Oversee the activities of the Disbursement Department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, and cash control.
Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable Department to ensure accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including billing, cash receipts application, etc; funding service management which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports.
Prepare monthly reports of results, monthly forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic planning.
Analyze and accurately report current month’s financial results to the plant, sales, and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and time requirements.
Submit all financial transactions, transmissions, and reporting on a timely and accurate basis.
Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results.
Investigate and explain book to physical adjustments.
Maintain a perpetual inventory for finished goods and reconcile this perpetual to production, shipping, and returns on a daily basis.
Review labor reporting and cost, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns and inventory levels with appropriate departments.
Conduct formal meetings with manufacturing, finance and sales management personnel to discuss all plant issues.
Develop and publish a formal agenda and recap with actions to be taken.
Analyze potential excess and obsolete inventory items monthly.
Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data thereby enhancing the value of the company.
Participate in special projects, as required, and compile a variety of special reports.
Communicate with management, co-workers, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
Skills and Abilities Required: Demonstrated leadership as part of a cross-functional plant management team.
Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Sound planning and organizational skills.
High level of proficiency in PC spreadsheets and ERP/MRP systems.
Strong cost accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable experience.
Proven supervisory experience.
Exceptional communications skills.
Problem solving and analytical skills required.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements: Proficient knowledge of ERP Systems and processes, Excel Spreadsheet package (omit), Power Point and working connection with all company’s programs and systems.
Effort / Working Environment: Effort / Working Environment: Medium work requires exerting up to 20 lbs.
of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 lbs.
of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs.
of force constantly to move/lift objects vertically and/or horizontally.
Work is performed primarily in an office environment within a manufacturing facility occasionally in areas near operating equipment and chemical usage; in accordance with our safety program, all employees receive informative training on chemicals and equipment used within the plant.
Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc.
Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment.
Requires sitting for extended periods of time.

5-10 years as plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment, managing a staff, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting and variance analysis.
