General Purpose of the Position: The primary duties of shipping/receiving to perform duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of raw materials, equipment and supplies.
Position is required to follow and maintain appropriate paperwork associated with the company’s procedures and duties under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Follow proper OSHA standards and is trained in lock out/tag out, confined spaces, hazard communications, hazardous waste, and fire training.
Follow all plant safety rules; Understands and follows ISO procedures and GMP personnel practices and guidelines.
Check propane gas tanks on all fork and clamp trucks.
Fill and empty tanks at tank storage area.
Check Hot House a minimum of every two (2) hours for pallets of material released by GC personnel.
Take pallets to wrapper area and work with wrapper when material and supplies are needed; banding and/or staging pallets.
Review Materials to Ship Sheet – move pallets to staging area for shipments.
Load trailer for transfers to offsite warehouse; band film end board pallets (plastic and/or wooden), cylinders to or from offsite warehouse, palletized press cores (to be picked up by vendors at offsite warehouse), paper rolls or film pallets designated for warehouse storage.
Transfers are not limited to these items.
Prepare pallets of empty ink drums for return by securing drums together with tape.
Check racks (see MH001 procedure) – if materials are needed from offsite warehouse follow procedure as instructed.
Check paper cores behind presses – if “V” rack needs to be emptied – palletize cores for transfer to off-site warehouse.
Check Baler Room – band pallets and load on dropped waste trailers.
Remove bales for janitor personnel and take to baler room.
Receive loads of paper, film, ink and other deliveries.
Shipments for LTL and TL of products to customers.
Follow all procedures both verbal and computerized and complete forms related to the shipping procedures.
Counts, weighs incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, or other records; examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
Provides on the job training to entry level employees and resolves problems utilizing knowledge of shipping/receiving/stock operations.
Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
Responsible for transporting miscellaneous production equipment, supplies or office supplies, to and from offsite warehouses; secures cargo properly and safely with weight evenly distributed.
Performs vehicle and trailer inspections as required by Tennessee Department of Transportation, federal requirements, and/or company or customer requirements as directed; ensures proper documentations and package markings with appropriate placards when moving hazardous materials.
Participates in ordering or purchasing standard stock items, such as recommending additions or deletions to standard stock items or ordering replenishments within established procedures and limits.
All other tasks or duties as assigned by company supervisor or manager.
Requirements: Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge of record keeping practices.
Skill in lifting heavy packages and objects.
Skill in operating forklift or other materials handling equipment.
Skill in operating large vehicles in tight and congested areas.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Class B - CDL and active medical card and any other company or DOT requirements to properly and legally operate company trucks and vehicles.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements: Basic computer skills to operate a computer to obtain customer job specifications/ISO procedures for processing and converting of material labels.
Physical Effort: Work requires exerting up to 10 lbs.
of force frequently, and/or up to 75 lbs.
of force occasionally to move/lift objects vertically and/or horizontally.
Work requires employees to stand/walk occasionally with frequent reaching, stooping, bending, with occasionally crouching, kneeling, and twisting to move product to and from pallets and mount on machines.
Working Environment: Work is performed primarily in manufacturing, warehouse, labs, or rotogravure press production areas including permanent enclosures.
In accordance with our safety program, all employees receive information training on required PPE equipment, chemicals, and equipment used within the press enclosures and the plant.
Manufacturing atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc.
Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment.
Education and Experience Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Class A - CDL and active medical card.
Two years of demonstrated work experience is preferred.
