JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: IMPROVEMENT TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: QUALITY ASSURANCE
REPORTS TO: QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
FLSA STATUS: HOURLY NON EXEMPT
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Identify, plan, and implement continuous improvement projects using various improvement tools.
Perform as a backup for the Quality Technician and Quote Coordinator roles.
Participate as a Quality System internal auditor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and rank them using appropriate scales for viability.
Use various improvement tools such as Six Sigma DMAIC, PDCA, JDI methods as appropriate to plan and implement projects.
Perform physical testing when required as a backup to Quality Technicians.
Maintain document control as related to the duties.
Investigate and gather data regarding projects.
Utilize various measurement tools for data gathering.
Analyze data for patterns and trends.
Train personnel in improvement methods and project specific tasks.
Perform independent audits to insure production personnel are adhering to quality guidelines, inspection frequencies and procedures/work instructions
Produce CAD drawings as necessary for projects.
Prepare and maintain reports as requested
Comply with established safety rules
Comply with company policy and procedures
Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, leads, supervisors, and managers.
Maintain acceptable attendance in accordance with company policy
Perform other duties as assigned to the satisfaction of the direct supervisor and/or manager

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as document technical data as required.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Must be proficient in Microsoft software packages including Word and Excel.
Excellent math skills including basic statistics is required.
Must be proficient in AutoCAD.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED required
ASQ certification (SSGB,CQA,CQT, etc) preferred
Two year technical degree preferred.
Three to five years of experience in the field of manufacturing.
Extrusion manufacturing experience a plus.
CI role experience a plus.
