The Construction Inspector manages the field execution of daily production.
CI is responsible for curating and maintaining relationships between the client’s field construction teams, quality control teams, City/County teams and ensuring all required DOT or City/County/Municipality crossings, issues are managed and followed through.
Position also requires the capability to manage subordinate personnel.
CI reports to the Construction Manager daily on all updates, changes, or issues.
CI is required to communicate and maintain field job-related information in Monday.
com project management system for other areas of IS team to access and manage their respective responsibilities.
Works closely with CM, engineering firms, local/ state agencies and owners/landlords on revisions or changes to assigned work from the client.
Knowledge:
• Must have knowledge of engineering/construction practices within telecommunications industry
• Must be able to read schematics, maps, work prints
• Familiar with scheduling, coordination and monitoring of workflows through assigned work
• Reporting and documentation regarding project
• Ability to resolve design and staking sheet issues in field during construction
Skills:
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Applications and have basic computer skills
• Must be willing to travel
• Must be capable of performing repetitive physical motions including but not limited to bending, standing, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain (in varied weather conditions)
• Must be able to utilize a field application for photos and time stamps during construction (ex.
Fieldwire app)
• Must be able to communicate with clients and homeowners
Essential Responsibilities:
• Attend company and client status meetings as required.
• Works closely with internal groups, design, permit and manage construction of new fiber network.
• Monitors infrastructure builds and reviews and approves work that has met customer’s construction standards.
• Provide detailed daily/weekly reports.
• Will meet with contractors, permitting agencies, Engineering firms, customers, other OSP engineers and vendors to coordinate/mitigate projects.
• Utilizes a variety of systems for the processing and reporting of work activities, documentation of projects
• Manage contractors/subcontractors
• Experience with OTDR testing and interpreting results a plus
