Responsibilities
This is a Technical Staff role in the Materials Shipping & Support (MSS) Section of the Manufacturing Services Department of the Specialty Chemicals, Materials Handling & Services Division.
This position involves working with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and other support staff.
In this role, your primary responsibility is to serve as a technical expert for the area by gaining knowledge of MSS systems/processes, while understanding external departments' processes and systems.
Other responsibilities will be to identify and implement improvements to the manufacturing process in areas of safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost and reliability.
Specific duties include day-to-day troubleshooting and assistance with crew projects.
This position reports to the MSS Area Manager.
Work closely with Technical, Operations and Maintenance to assist MSS with supporting other manufacturing areas in achieving their production objectives
Provide daily technical support for resolving technical and quality issues
Maintain an awareness of Manufacturing concerns through daily interactions with Staff, Operators and Supervision
Drive reliability and other general improvements within the department
Develop and lead efforts in Manufacturing to meet key business and site initiatives while maintaining a focus on safety
Champion Zero Incident Mindset by engaging with team members
Participate in the area maintenance planning process and work directly with plant engineering to execute projects and improvements
Develop, coordinate and implement capital projects within the department
Develop and prioritize a project portfolio.
Coordinate resources for implementation.
Provide operational oversight for the MOC process, as needed
Provide technical assistance and leadership to Operations
Provide back-up assistance in the absence of the Manufacturing Supervisor or Area Manager when needed
Provide occasional weekend duty coverage for the department once onboarding training is complete
Communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders
Maintain familiarity with PSM, including PHAs and LOPAs.
Participate on PHA teams.
Generate and execute projects to address action items.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university is required
2+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant required
Strong technical & engineering skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to support working with a broad cross-section of employees
