The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is seeking candidates for a Locksmith.
Locksmith’s perform maintenance, installation, and inspection of all mechanical and electronic access control systems.
Specific responsibilities include repairing and opening locks, making keys, changing locks and safe combinations, and installing and repairing safes.
This position will install and service locks and related hardware and electronic facilities access controls.
Provide estimates on scope, cost, and coordination of projects.
Job Description
Have knowledge of IC small format key systems (BEST Cylinders)
Installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical & electronic locks, hydraulic closing fixtures, and related hardware.
Installs and/or oversees the installation, programming, and repair of electronic facilities access controls.
Cuts new or duplicate keys and stamps.
Maintains master key files and records of keys distributed.
Ensuring safety and security of materials and data.
Adds and/or modifies electronic facilities access for the University community and contractors.
Estimates scope and cost of projects in consultation with representatives of associated units.
Maintains inventory of supplies and parts.
Maintains logs and records of worked performed and materials used in accordance with department standards.
May oversee and coordinate the activities of sub-contractors in the completion of projects.
May maintain and repair ADA door operators, door closers, and control gates.
MINIMUM RQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Preferred: BEST Hardware and Corbin Russin Hardware
Licensure: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job requires a lot of repetitive motion, use of both hands and standing while cutting keys and traveling while delivering keys to different locations.
The use of both hands, a pushing and pulling motion, as well as a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
The employee will be required to crawl, kneel, squat, travel and standing and sitting while keying locks and cutting keys.
